As such, there is an understandably high and continuous global demand for water. Water is however, a finite resource, and accessibility can be limited by a number of factors. This stark imbalance of supply and demand has resulted in a complex global water crisis.
why product was made?
Contrary to popular belief, water shortages are not exclusively faced by developing nations. Rather, 4 billion people, or two-thirds of the global population, face water scarcity for at least one month of the year. In Europe, 20% of the land and 30% of the people are faced with water scarcity every year, which is attributed to a combination of droughts and the overuse of water. This situation is predicted to worsen in coming years, as global warming facilitates continued droughts and dryer climates.
What problem is it addressing?
In an effort to address the persistent water shortages in Portugal, the founders of Água Limpa Inc. conceptualized and developed a purifying sink that allows water to be filtered and recycled. Through continued sustainable and environmentally-conscious innovation, Água Limpa Inc. aspires to alleviate the impact of water shortages in Portugal, and effectively increase the nation’s available water supply.
PRODUCT
Água Limpa is a water purifying sink that is designed to filter diluted water into clean useable water. The sink is composed of a unique concrete polymer, which facilitates the filtration process, and allows water to be purified and repurposed for a variety of uses.
Água Limpa provides the functions of a conventional sink, and is conveniently streamlined to include water filtration and recycling capabilities without additional equipment and space limitations.
